Leon Russell "Russ" Borg, Sr.
Passed away on January 13, 2025
Leon Russell Borg, Sr., 93, passed away Monday, January 13, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was born October 6, 1931, in Illinois to the late Leon Borg and Kathleen McCorkle McGrath Borg. Russ served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict on the USS destroyer Cogswell. He was a brick layer and worked on iconic buildings around Savannah, including the Savannah Civic Center, the Desoto Hilton, and the Fort Pulaski Visitors Center. He was a member of New Life Fellowship Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Della June Wise Borg, son, David Borg, granddaughter, Alysa Luke, and brother, Tony McGrath.
Surviving are his son, Leon Russell “Rusty” Borg, Jr., his grandchildren, Joshua, Caleb (Karli), and Crystal. He is also survived by his siblings, Donald Borg (Nancy), Patty Velatini, Dennis McGrath (Georgia), Kathy McGrath Hupp, Linda McGrath, and Tim McGrath (Linda), and 7 grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 23, 2025 at Fox & Weeks, Hodgson Chapel with Rev. Robert Ether and Rev. Eric L. Darrow officiating.
